Anzac Day
This morning, we gathered at Brigid鈥檚 Place to pay tribute to the men and women who served and supported during WW1. Our intention was not to glorify war but to deeply contemplate the contributions of those who served our country during times of crisis and to honor their selfless sacrifices. The service included the last post, ode and rouse along with a meaningful reflection from two students who participated in our recent European Study Tour. They recounted their experience at Adelaide Cemetery, where whilst viewing the graves on open plains that were once battlefields, they paid particular attention to the age of each soldier, some as young as 16, 17 and 18. They realised, 鈥淭hat鈥檚 our age.” It鈥檚 a part of history that our students can deeply connect with.
Yesterday, a large number of staff, students and families marched up to the Mentone RSL for their moving service. The procession was a vibrant display of colours, which represented the many individuals and groups within our wonderful bayside community. Year 11 student, Evie H, delivered a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem and we thank those who joined us for the morning. At the College, we remain mindful that many men and women continue to work tirelessly for peace and we hold on to the hope that it can exist in today鈥檚 world.
